A small market town on the banks of the River Dee is well known to anglers for its trout, salmon and grayling.

A hill on the north side of the river has a prehistoric stone rampart, Caer Drewyn and is one of the best examples in Wales.

On the south of Corwen are the Berwyn Hills an elevated and undulating tract of moorland that stretches from Llangollen to Bala and Lake Vyrnwy. The highest point near Corwen is Moel Ferna at 2,071ft and to the southwest are Cader Fronwen rising to 2,572ft and Moel Sych (the dry hill) rising to 2,713ft.
