URPoint Details
A pleasant resort at the south side of Loch Etive beyond the narrows, its waters mingle with those of the Firth of Lorne.
The famous Falls of Lora, a sea cataract to the east of the cantilever rail bridge is best viewed at low spring tides.
The bridge is the largest in Europe after the Forth Bridge and spans the loch giving access to Benderloch and the picturesque Appin country.
From the north side a by-road leads northeast skirting the Moss of Achnacree and passing Ardchattan Church to reach the ruined Priory of Ardcahattan.
St Oran’s church is a small replica of Iona Abbey and stands on a rise above the loch.
