The village straggles along the main road through an old mining valley with abandoned silver and lead mine workings on the hillside.
A curious place to visit is the Pack of Cards an inn that looks like a pack of cards and built in the 18th century by a gambling man.
The Church of St Peter ad Vincula – St Peter in chains, dates from the 13th and 14 century and has an amazing 99ft high tower complete with battlements and tiers of gargoyles.
