URPoint Details
A delightful picturesque village by the river Bure, where nearly all the residents are descendants from the 17th century, and the village prospered form brewing and boat building.
There is evidence that both the Romans and Saxons were here.
Curved gable ends on some of the houses come from the Flemish influence which is evident all around the area. The shops are very interesting and there is a very good bric-a-brac shop in what was once an old barn.
The Old School House on the corner of Church Street and Rectory Road is a wonderful red brick building with a row of dormer windows in the attic.
The Manor House is 18th century and lies behind the tall trees past the churchyard.
The common is a very interesting place with seats and shady trees. Boats and yachts moor along the river banks and where the ducks and other water birds wait to be fed.
