URPoint Details
The Church of St John built in 1892 by Robert Millington Knowles, the lord of the manor, in memory of his wife Alice and his son. He spared no expense and had battlements and pinnacles adorn the tower, crowned by a slender spire 50ft high. In the nave are richly carved stone arcades and slender pillars decorated with angels.
In the chapel is a life size angel sculpted in marble to commemorate Alice Knowles.
