URPoint Details
The village on the northern slopes of the Colne Valley encompasses five manors and derived its name from Vitales de Ingaine – Lord of the manor 1219.
One resident left his wife one morning announcing that he was going out to kill a cockerel. He did just that! A neighbour called Cockerrell lost his head, severed by a scythe. Murder most ‘foul’ had been committed.
