Admission charge includes a tour (by friendly and knowledgeable guides and where you will learn some of the secrets of the ancient craft of distilling) a dram and voucher against purchase of 70cl bottle of malt whisky, the exclusive Johnny Walker Gold 18 year Old blend. In the shop there are many quality Scottish gifts & souvenirs. Children under 8 years are welcome but not encouraged to take the tour.
The original distillery built in 1819 by the future Duke of Sutherland of nearby Dunrobin Castle to serve new farms being established on the fertile land of Sutherland's coastal strip. It was hoped that by providing steady market for grain, farmers would no longer support the illicit distillers.
Pure water from mountain springs runs over veins of gold on its way to the distillery.
Clynelish provides the malt whisky at the heart of the Johnnie Walker Gold Label Blend. The Distillery produces a single malt Scotch whisky from six traditional copper stills and is used extensively for blending.
Clynelish 14-year old Highland single malt whisky when bottled displays the distiller symbol 'a wildcat'.
