This large dam was built across the Black Water of Dee which then tunnels inland to the hydro-electric scheme.

A boulder on Moss Raploch marks the site of one of Robert Bruce's early battles.

To the southwest beyond the remote Loch Grannoch rises Cairnsmore of Fleet at 2,331ft and is associated with John Buchan's 'Thirty Nine Steps'.

To the north is Meikle Millyea rising to 2,446ft the most southerly peak in the Rhinns of Kells range and beyond it lies the lonely Loch Dungeon.
