An eight acre garden surrounding the early 18th century house by Leoni. The Knyff painting in the house shows the original Dutch-style garden swept away by Capability Brown in 1766. None of his work is evident in the garden although the landscape beyond contains some traces. The impressive late 18th century grotto is not thought to be his work. The maori meeting hut in the grounds, was brought back from New Zealand by the 4th Earl of Onslow and is an extremely rare example of its type.
