URPoint Details
An attractive village near the Oxfordshire border. In the centre, and surrounding the church, is a delightful group of old houses with the 18th century Townhill farmhouse, set back from the rest. The church itself is of varying dates. The screen combines Perpendicular and Jacobean work whilst the 18th century organ came from Chilton House. In the church, is the tomb of Chief Justice Carter who, in about 1740 built Chilton House, a rather splendid mansion which was modelled on Buckingham House in London.
