Chester Cathedral

Chester Cathedral

St Werburgh St, Chester

URPoint Details

Open 7am-4.30pm daily. Street parking for Orange Badge holders in St Werburgh St, if full use city centre car park; designated wheelchair entrance; ramps provided where necessary; level access to Garden of Remembrance; ramped access to cafeteria; steps lead to standard toilets.

The cathedral contains many outstanding features and includes the finest Quire stalls in Britain. The cathedral, originally a Saxon church has been a place of worship for over 1,000 years. Parts of the Norman church begun in 1092 can still be seen in the present building, which was largely constructed between 1250 and 1530. The monastic cloisters and gardens are wonderful, and a visit to this delightful cathedral would not be complete without listening to the choir practising (daily except Monday & Friday).
