Cheapside - Church of St Mary Le Bow, (London)

The church plays a significant role in the life of Londoners, as it was these bells that recalled Dick Whittington to be four times Lord Mayor.

True cockneys must be born within earshot of the bells.
The original Bow Bells were lost in the Great Fire and their replacement crashed to the ground during the Blitz in 1941. The new bells were made from the remains.
