Fantastic Elizabethan house built in 1555 for Bess of Hardwick. William Cavendish, 1st Duke of Devonshire, altered the house between 1686 and 1707.
The 6th Duke made extensive additions in the 1820's and now home to the 11th Duke and Duchess of Devonshire.
The Library is magnificent and houses a wonderful collection of paintings, sculptures, silver and many other artefacts.
Chatsworth is set in some of the most wonderful countryside in the Peak National Park. Capability Brown designed the surrounding park. The Garden covers over 100 acres and the fountains, cascades, maze, rose gardens and two miles of walks are marvellous and it is possible that you may meet the Duchess strolling around the beautiful gardens.
