Charles Robert Darwin, FRS was born 12 February 1809 and was an English Naturalist. and in 1831, he embarked on a five-year survey voyage around the world on the HMS Beagle
Darwin published his theory with compelling evidence for evolution in his 1859 book On the origin of Species.
He died on April 19, 1882, at his family home, Down House, in London,
In recognition of Darwin's pre-eminence as a scientist, he was honoured with a State Funeral and is buried in Westminster Abbey along with Isaac Newton and John Herschel
