The famous British author was born in this house in 1812. He died in 1870.
Set in a cobbled street, the house has been restored, decorated and furnished in the Regency style and includes the couch on which he died. The author's father, who worked in the Portsmouth Dockyard, is said to have been the inspiration for Mr Micawber.
