URPoint Details
The church here has a 15th century tower, and nearby is a path leading to the dramatic sounding Blackgang Chine, a cleft in the face of the cliff.
It was once used by a band of smugglers – the Black Gang from whom it is believed to have taken its name. The path leads deep down into the chine with crags, precipices and sandstone rocks of many colours.
From the observation peak there are magnificent views along the south-west coast to the Needles and Needles Lighthouse.
