Celtic Manor Golf Resort
URPoint Details
Founded in 1995, the terrain chosen by course designer Robert Trent Jones to celebrate his Welsh heritage is historic in its own right - Via Julia, the road built by the Romans to their nearby fortress at Caerleon, runs through the 1000 acres. It also contains the site of a gladiator training school which is left untouched in the middle of the tricky Coldra Woods course, the smaller of two courses Jones has created amid commanding slopes.
This is a new golf hotel complex reflecting the Welsh determination for a much higher golf profile as a golfing destination. The two 18 hole, 6900/4100 yards, par 70/61 courses currently in play are part of a first-class holiday golf experience. Ian Woosnam, is the Celtic Manor touring professional and predicts that the country club will soon host a major European professional event.
28 floodlit bays driving range also available.
