Castletown Nautical Museum - Isle of Man
Bridge St, Castletown IM9 1AX, England
URPoint Details
Situated at the mouth of the harbour, the museum contains an 18th century armed yacht, 'The Peggy', built by George Quayle in 1791. It is shown in its original boathouse where it remained undisturbed for a century after its owner's death, being re-discovered in 1935. A replica sailmaker's loft, ship models, other exhibits and photographs bring alive maritime life on the Isle.
