The Augustinian priory was founded in 1188 by William Marshall, 1st Earl of Pembroke.
Among the priory treasures are some magnificent stained glass, carved misericords on the choir stalls and a first edition of Edmund Spenser’s ‘Faerie Queene’.
The 14th century gabled gatehouse was once part of the priory.
