The village on the western shores of Loch Harport is famous as the home of the Talisker distillery and of course it scotch.
The distillery is approached along a by-road leaving the Sligachan to Bracadale road travelling west near the head of Loch Harport.
A narrow and rough road goes westwards over the hills from Carbost to Talisker Bay with Preshal More rising to the south on the road near the coast. To the south of the bay lie lofty cliffs accessible only on foot.
By taking another by-road leading northwest from Carbost along the shores of Loch Harport to Fiskavaig Bay with spectacular scenery.
