In 1567 when Mary, Queen of Scots, after Bothwell had fled she surrendered to the Lords of the Congregation and was then imprisoned in Loch Leven Castle.
Carberry Tower was rebuilt in 1830 and incorporates the old one.
Carrberry Hill, once the home of the Elphinstone family is now owned and managed by the Buccluech Estate.
