George Canning PC, FRS, born 11 April 1770, Marylebone was a British statesman and politician who served as Foreign Secretary 25 March 1807 – 11 October 1809 and again from 13 September 1822 to 20 April 1827 and briefly Prime Minister in from 10 April 1827 – 8 August 1827. Canning's total period in office is the shortest of any Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, 119 days.

He died in Chiswick on the 8th August 1827 (aged 57) and is buried in Westminster Abbey.
