University city with famous colleges complete with their historic buildings, courtyards and bridges across the River Cam.
The Colleges of Cambridge are wonderful buildings, and open to the public with tours by the Cambridge Blue Badge Guides. Colleges are not open mid April to end of June during Exam time.
There are a series of Trinity Hall milestones erected between 1725 and 1732, particularly the one mile to Great Saint Maries Church with a hand pointing towards Cambridge. The date is shown in Roman numerals of MDCCXXVIII.
Christ's College in Trumpington St was founded by the townspeople in 1352
Clare College, was built in 1638 has beautiful gardens and the oldest surviving river bridge dating from 1640. The gardens are open most weekday afternoons.
Corpus Christi College in Trumpington St was founded in 1352 and has a wonderful Medieval college court.
Emmanuel College in St Andrew's St was founded in 1584 and has lovely gardens. The chapel by Sir Christopher Wren contains a plaque to a former scholar John Harvard who sailed on the Mayflower in 1636, and later founded Harvard University.
Jesus College is built on the site of a 12th century nunnery and has a lovely
