The Church dedicated to St Kentigern who is said to have preached here on his way to Scotland.

In the middle of the village are some charming 18th century cottages, and behind the church is a stone footbridge arches over the Caldbeck, leading to Friar Row a group of lovely stone cottages with Cumberland slate dating from 1800.

Location: 11 miles southwest of Carlisle

John Peel, huntsman & Farmer born in Caldbeck in 1776 was a familiar sight around the northern fells and was immortalised in the ballad ‘D’ye ken John Peel’. He died in 1854 and his grave is in the Caldbeck churchyard.
