An ancient and delightful town where the war memorial stands on a Roman base, opposite the church gates and marks the site of the busy centre of Venta Silurum one of the most important Roman town in South Wales.
The walls surrounding the town are over 1,700 years old, built to protect the Roman community which included a forum, bath house and temple.
The church has a good two storeyed north porch, containing two Roman altar stones.
