The fantastic castle and moats of Caerphilly covers about 30 acres of the town and lie in the coalfield of the Rhymmey Valley.
The hills surrounding the town rise to heights of some 300ft or more.
Caerphilly Mountain to the south lies in open countryside and from the summit the views over Cardiff and the Bristol Channel to Somerset and North Devon beyond.
The town is still famous for its special cheese.
