Set in a quiet and lovely setting, St Peter’s Church, (Churches Conservation Trust) has one of the best Saxon towers in Northumberland with characteristic windows and quoins and lower stages earlier than 850. The rest of the church is essentially 13th century, with some later additions in the 18th century. A few of the 13th century and earlier grave slabs with carved crosses have been set into the walls inside and outside the church.
