URPoint Details
The building of the parish church of St John the Baptist was designed by John White and is a handsome building in the Italianate style and contains some very fine mosaics and stained glass. Some building difficulties were encountered and it was necessary to secure the foundations with a total of 2,200 wooden piles sixteen feet long.
