Lord Liverpool of Buxted Park did not want anything to obstruct his views so the village fell into disrepair in the 19th century and he had the rest moved to its present position near the station.
Iron cannon were first cast here in 1543 by the Hogge family. The 16th century ‘Hog House’ stands at the entrance to Buxted Park.
There is strange signpost near the village pointing to Nan Tucks Lane’.
