The Mill is still working, now run by electricity has a fine Regency porch it was mentioned in the Domesday book and was moved to its present site in 1536.
The 14th century gatehouse is all that remains of the 11th century Butley Priory now a private residence. The carvings on the gatehouse include national and baronial emblems.
Staverton Thicks with its deer park has one of the oldest trees dating from 1540. Take a walk along the footpath around the outside of the park, its well worth it.
Butley Clumps planted in 1790, is an avenue of beech trees originally planted in a clump of four with a pine tree in the middle of the square.
