Built in the 1770s this Adam-style house is a plain 2 storey block of 9 bays, the central 3 bays projecting slightly under a pediment.
Interesting neo-Georgian decoration dating from the 1930s and still retains some Neo-classical plasterwork and joinery from the late 18th century.
The house contains some fine rosewood and satinwood furniture and some fine oriental porcelain.
Home of the Faringdon Collection of fine paintings (including the famous 'Briar Rose' by Edward Burne-Jones). Many other famous works by Rubens, Rembrandt, Vecchio, Gainsborough, Dante and Gabriel Rossetti can be seen.
There is an early 20th century water garden laid out by Harold Peto.
