URPoint Details
The church modelled on the North Church in Amsterdam dates from 1592. The octagonal tower was built in 1749. There is a magistrate’s pew, constructed in 1606 and there are seats especially marked for the various town guilds.
It was at a meeting in the church in 1601, that the General Assembly proposed the Authorised Version of the Bible, which was published 10 years later.
