URPoint Details
A very pretty village, nestled in the Valley of the Stour River on the edge of Constable Country. The village is divided since it lies in the two counties of Suffolk & Essex.
Bures St Mary in Suffolk has the church and most of the village, while Bures Hamlet has the rail link to Sudbury & London.
Edmund was crowned at the age of 15 on Christmas Day AD 855. The Chapel was consecrated in 1218 and is half a mile out of the village on the road to Boxford.
