Overlooking hard, golden sands Bude is flanked by spectacular cliffs. Bude was notorious for its wreckers who looted ships that were wrecked off the coast and between 1824 and 1874 there were about 80 recorded such wrecks.
A canal built in the early 1800s for carrying fertiliser inland and is now very busy with boating and sailing.
