URPoint Details
The village is only a mile away from the Roman road that linked Salisbury and Winchester.
The Saxons were also here as a warrior was found buried with his shield and sword on Broughton Hill.
The timbered houses in summer are a riot of colour, and in the churchyard of the 13th century parish church is a round brick dovecot built in the 17th century, a gift of Richard III.
