Sandfine Rd, Broughton OX15 5EF, England
URPoint Details
St Mary's Church, is open summer 9am-7pm daily. The 14th century church lies in a quiet yard next to Lord Saye and Sele's beautiful moated castle in the park. Six centuries of baronial monuments and hatchments can be seen as well a rare 14th century stone chancel screen. The beautiful east window was restored in the century. The church has effigies of knights, Sir John of Broughton's in a fancy 14th century recess, and of a knight and lady, which although exquisitely detailed belong to different ends of the 15th century. The 19th century memorial tablets are also interesting.
