URPoint Details
The Church of St Lawrence (Churches Conservation Trust), sits in a quiet cul-de-sac on the edge of Milton Keynes, is an exceptional 14th century church with an elegant 15th century tower, but inside, a marvellous series of wall paintings, found during an 1849 restoration, covers large parts of the north and south walls.
The paintings include a Doom, a Pieta, St Helena and St Eligius and a dramatic portrayal of St George slaying the Dragon. There are some interesting memorials and good 19th century stained glass.
