URPoint Details
Car park free, picnic site by millstream.
The fully restored mill of red brick and half timber is driven by an iron wheel and bears the date 1695 on early stonework. The medieval stone bridge over the river Ouse has 26 arches. These extend over the river and low lying meadows where herons and marsh birds abound. In 1281 the bridge gave way after a heavy frost and an unfortunate woman was carried away on the ice flow.
