St Mary's Church has stood for over one thousand years on its present site. There are memorials to the Cornwallis family. The church is considered to be an outstanding example of restoration work by Thomas Jekyll. It also has the largest collection of sculptures by James Williams.
It is a Grade II* listed building with a medieval core dating from the 12th century. A moated site near the church is a scheduled monument dating from the same period.
