URPoint Details
The 1,000-acre park of the family seat of the Earls of Yarborough was laid out by Capability Brown. The house is of red brick and dates from 1730.
The 13th century church in the park has ornamented tombs with the Buckle badge which can also be seen in many Sussex churches. This badge was granted to Sir John Pelham for his courtesy on the field at Poitiers where he captured King John of France.
