URPoint Details
The church of St Britius is kept locked, but there is a list of key-holders on the notice board.
This is the only church in England dedicated to St Britius, who succeeded St Martin as Bishop of Tours, being canonised in 443AD. In the north wall of the chancel is evidence of a possible reliquary which may have held a relic of St Britius.
The church itself is Norman, with the north aisle and tower being added in the 13th century. The rood screen is 15th century, with modern decoration.
