Stands beautifully in the fields under the wooded slopes of Credenhill. The exterior is unassuming but on entering one's eye is met by a wealth of colour, gilding and carving - some old, some new. The old starts with a notable 12th century sculpture of St George and the Dragon, formerly over the south door, but now moved inside to the north wall -other carvings from the same doorway - saints and angels, birds and beasts - are reset elsewhere in the walls. Just inside the door is a rare survival - a stoup or stone basin on a bracket for holding holy water; elsewhere are three ancient coffin-lids carved with decorative crosses.

The east window contains two beautiful panels of 14th century glass, one showing St George. The modern stained glass in many of the other windows and most of the carved decoration are the work of Sir Ninian Comper and date from 1920-1928. Two windows commemorate William Wordsworth, his wife and sister, who often stayed at the nearby moated manor-house - Brinsop Court; the west window is a striking War Memorial.
