A delightful little place at the head of Loch Indaal, and in a wooded setting is Islay House.
To the west on the coast is Blackrock a sandy and safe bathing beach.
To the north the road leads across the Gruinart Flats to the head of Loch Gruinart where a clan battle took place in 1598.
