The tower can only be accessed when the Cathedral Grounds are open.
The 12th century cathedral has a spire and some other original parts date from 1360.
Next to the cathedral stands one of only two old round watchtowers from the Irish style dating from the 11th century in Scotland
The tower was built as a place of safety for priests and church treasures and is 87 feet high.
