Brechin (Breichin)
Standing on a hill beside the South Esk River facing the valley of Strathmore, with the old town with its steep streets where the buildings are built of red-sandstone.
The castle, separated from the Cathedral by a burn withstood a siege in 1303 has now been completely modernised and has a fine park.
