URPoint Details
A busy village since Roman times up until the 18th century with the smelting of Wealden iron. 
 A narrow lane winds out of the village and over the common leads to Waggoners Wells, three large ponds which were part of a system of waterfalls designed to operate the giant hammers. 
 
 The Church of St Mary dates from the 13th century, with Victorian nave, aisles and spire.
