Beautifully situated in the Braes of Angus mountains at the head of the long valley of Glen Clova.
A branch track known as Capel Mounth diverges to the north and leads to Loch Muick in Glen Muick giving access to Ballater.
The westerly valley known as Glen Doll is crossed by a track leading to Jock's road a path that climbs high above the White Water into the hills below Broad Cairn at 3,268ft.
The hills of Dreish at 3,105ft to the south and Criag Mellon at 2,815ft to the north overshadow this lonely glen which near its head is overlooked by the crags of Craig Rennet at 2,442ft.
