To the east of the old bridge over the Knaik Water is the great Roman station of Ardoch in the grounds of Ardoch House and the most striking of its kind in Great Britain.
A little farther to the northwest is the Great Camp another Roman camp and there is yet another but smaller camp and between the two stations there would have been space for about 40,000 troops at the time.
Location: 10 miles north of Stirling on the Crieff road.
