Open March to end October, daily 10am-6pm or dusk if earlier. November to 2 January, Tuesday to Sunday (closed 24/26 December). Open New Years Day, 10am-dusk.

Admission charge. Dogs on leads in grounds only; not in Castle; picnics welcome in Castle grounds.

Disabled car park, restaurant, function room, shop and toilets on level ground with easy access and fine views to castle. Castle entrance is about ΒΌ mile away, over uneven grass and shingle track; wheelchair access is difficult, particularly in muddy weather. Disabled visitors should phone in advance or speak to car park attendant to arrange to take cars along private road and park closer to castle and museum, where wheelchair access is easier; easy access to main courtyard of castle over a level wooden bridge. The towers and interiors are inaccessible; stairs are steep and winding.
