Blundeston , England

URPoint Details

Blundeston House was designed by Sir John Soames in 1785, and now houses a prison within the grounds.
Charles Dicken's novel hero ‘David Copperfield’ was born at Blundeston and spent holidays here with the Peggotty family.
The village sign shows David Copperfield as a boy looking at the church.

The Norman church of St Mary has an 11th century south door and has the tallest thinnest round tower in East Anglia.

The Plough Inn dates from 1701 and is famous for ‘David Copperfield’. Oak panelling, exposed beams with high back settles and open fires in the winter make this pub one worth a stop. Bar meals are excellent and reasonably priced. The home made soups are wonderful as are the jacket filled potatoes.
